FRACS (AUS), FCS (SA), MSRC (NLD), Arts Examen (NLD)
As a leader in minimally invasive or keyhole surgery in Australia, Dr Sanders has performed a significant number of video-assisted thoracic and minimally invasive cardiac surgeries, making him one of the most experienced in Perth.
He commenced private practice in 2014. Originally from the Netherlands, he trained in South Africa and has practised as a Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon since 1997. He moved to Australia in 2001 and has worked at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital as a consultant for many years.
Dr Sanders gained significant insights into minimally invasive surgery at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He keeps himself up-to-date by regular visits to international medical centres.
He is dedicated to minimising the trauma that patients may experience from major surgery. Having to undergo heart or lung surgery can be a traumatic experience for some people. He seeks to minimise such trauma by performing the least invasive surgery possible.
Information is provided about the surgery and post-operation care, and he is available to patients for any questions or concerns that may have.
Minimal wait times are maintained for both clinical appointments and surgeries, offering a weekly clinic at Mount Medical Centre. He seeks to be informative to both medical practitioners and patients.
His practice values are being proficient, available and informative.
